<p>Years ago I was prescribed Valium&#8230;<br />
i took the Valium for quite some time&#8230;<br />
then i happened across an Apothocary who told me, actually gave me an herbal prescription for an herbal substitute for Valium:</p>
<p>1/2 ounce Valerian Root<br />
1/2 pint of Ginger Brandy</p>
<p>Shake well each time you use it</p>
<p>take one teaspoon as needed</p>
<p>IT ABSOLUTELY WORKS</p>
<p>I suppose you could go<br />
to the health food store and get the Valerian Root in capsule form and take it as a capsule&#8230;.<br />
but, it will not have the same affect!</p>
<p>go ahead and get the capsules<br />
break &#8216;em apart&#8230;<br />
&#8217;til you get about a 1/2 oz of the herb<br />
mix with 1/2 pint of ginger brandy</p>
<p>this will not give you the &#8220;kick&#8221; of a valium<br />
but&#8230;it will definitely help with your stress</p>
<p>one thing to know:<br />
 before you start messing around with Valerian Root Powder:    IT STINKS!<br />
It smells worse than week old gym socks</p>
<p>Give it a try</p>

<p class="faq_question">I work in a restaurant as an assistant kitchen manager.  We are a very busy restaurant and each day is very demanding.  There are a lot of young people that work there and they are just there for the pay cheque.  I get very tense at work dealing with the day to day issues and would like to remain calm and stress free can anyone suggest something to get  rid of the stress through out the day

I also have stress balls.  They sell many different kinds&#8212;different shapes and textures&#8211;give you something to take the stress out on and distract you at the same time.<br />

<p>Another good idea would be to think positively about your life and your job, thinking about things with a negative attitude only increases the stress level and it does not help your situation at all, so relax and try not to worry excessively, because worrying is never good for anyone. Setting goals for yourself can also be a helpful stress relief strategy, by setting yourself goals it gives you something to work toward one step at a time, avoiding the feeling of being overwhelmed. </p>

<h2>What medications would be good for depression, anxiety, insomnia, stress relief?</h2>
<p class="faq_question">This is a high stress time.  I&#8217;ve been diagnosed as depressed.  Insomnia is really bad, to the point I dread going to bed.  As soon as my head hits the pillow, my mind goes into high gear.  Although I have a hard time losing weight normally, I&#8217;ve been dropping weight like you wouldn&#8217;t believe.  Has anyone taken medications for problems like this, &amp; was it effective?  I finally got an appointment with the doctor this Friday.  I&#8217;d appreciate recommendations from anyone.  Thank you!

write a journal or letters to persons you want to say something to but can&#8217;t personally.<br />
recite the english alphabet backwards.<br />
take 30 small sips of what you&#8217;re drinking.<br />
breathe deeply.<br />
listen to music and sing along.<br />
talk to strangers.<br />
talk to children.<br />
plant some trees or plants in your garden.<br />
eat something sweet like chocolates and soda.<br />
eat some bananas.<br />
walk around (like in a shopping mall) and just observe other people.</p>
