Stress is now a universal ailment that people from all over the world suffer with. Many sicknesses originate with stress being the leading cause. Stress affects the health, your sex life, your relationship and eventually your life on the whole. StressRelief.co.za is dedicated to providing you with Stress Relief Resources and aids to reduce stress in your life.

Life, Love, and Stress

Many people in the world we live in today experience some form of stress. The inevitable stress is something that happens to all of us and leads many on a quest to find some way to deal with it. Stress relief is a great option because it provides you with a manageable and healthy way to deal with the stresses of everyday life, with work and school and other activities many adults, teens and children experience stress, which is why scientists have tried to find ways that will safely reduce those stresses.

When it comes to stress relief a lot of people turn to therapy or relaxation techniques to deal with stress, this is a very popular form of stress relief because in most cases it provides fast results and allows the person to calm down and reflect. Remember that stress will never totally disappear because no matter what, stress in going to occur whether you try to stop it or not, it is a natural part of life. Stress can also help you, it is not all bad, it can be a good motivator for people who need that extra push in work or school.

Eustress, Distress and How to Deal

If you are considering stress relief, you should first consider what kind of stress you are experiencing, not all stress is bad stress. There are two main kinds of stress, Eustress and distress. The first kind called Eustress, refers to positive or healthy stress, the Greek word for “good” is Eu which provides us with the term Eustress or good stress. This kind of stress can propel you to work harder, it gives you drive and motivation to do your best at whatever you have to do.

Eustress can be any kind of stress that has a positive experience behind it. The second kind of stress is distress which can be seriously harmful for you and the people around you, this kind of stress can make you cave under pressure, make you feel sick and fatigued. Usually distress is triggered by a traumatic event of some kind such as the death of a loved one.

But no matter what kind of stress you experience, stress relief is quite possibly the best way to deal with stress. Some helpful stress relief strategies include, full body relaxation techniques, these can be tremendously helpful when dealing with stress, start by sitting back closing your eyes and taking a deep breath lose yourself in thought but try not to think about anything that does not make you happy, with each deep breath relax your muscles starting at your head and working down, before you know it, you have relaxed your entire body, this can be a very helpful tool for stress relief.

Another good idea would be to think positively about your life and your job, thinking about things with a negative attitude only increases the stress level and it does not help your situation at all, so relax and try not to worry excessively, because worrying is never good for anyone. Setting goals for yourself can also be a helpful stress relief strategy, by setting yourself goals it gives you something to work toward one step at a time, avoiding the feeling of being overwhelmed.

Some natural herbs and minerals can help with stress as well, things like vitamin C and others can help you feel rejuvenated, while Calcium can help to relax your muscles which can be a big part in dealing with stress, the ability to relax is what you need for good stress relief. But not all stress relief is good, some people try to relieve stress by taking it out on others, overeating, or not eating at all. Stress is different for everyone and you should try to work with whatever makes you feel happy and healthy, try to avoid sugar and junk foods, going for a run or any other physical activity can be good when dealing with stress, it is really a matter of personal preference, doing what you love can help you relax and take your mind off the stressor.

Stress relief medication for fear of needles?

I’m getting a menactra shot and have a irrational fear of needles. Is there any medication I can take beforehand (something with effect like nitrous or that sort) that will completely make me insensitive to the fact that I am getting a shot? What does that medication feel like and how would I go about acquiring it?

Answer
Have a glass of wine just before you take the needle.

Stress relief ?

I’m 15. I get angry very easily and have been told to go to anger management. I get very bad chest pain to the point of tears if i get stressed and yell. I went to the doctor and nothing is wrong with my heart. I have been trying to control my anger and not yell as much so my chest dosen’t hurt. It is very hard especially with 2 younger very annoying brothers. Any suggestions on stress relief and ways to control my anger?

Answer
Anger management classes aren’t a bad thing, and if you go to them and show you are willing to try to work on things, maybe you can use that to your advantage. What are your younger brothers doing to make you angry? Can you ask that they be told to stop annoying you so much?

If they’re very young then yes, a lot of the burden will have to be on you – you are older and will be seen as having to be the ‘responsible’ one, but surely a compromise can be made?

If your anger is having a detrimental effect on your health then anything that can reduce it is good. Can you go out a few nights a week to have some peace (even if you have to sleep over at a friends or something?) – do you have your own room? Can your brothers be kept away from there so you have some peace?

Have you tried meditation – it may sound goofy, but it can be a great stress reliever for some people.

Whats some food that helps relief stress?

Like don’t say chocolate…
I mean like healthy foods…
I heard like milk is good for that kind of thing…
Also is B2 good for stress relief?

Answer
Please don’t eat to relieve stress, it will become your worst habit. Maybe not now but sooner or later. But, if you must, then milk is good. Protein enriched foods, try peanuts. Protein is good for brain health, which will in turn balance the anxiety you have. Also any type of fruit. It’s not instant though, unless you believe it is.

Why does “everyone” say playing an instrument is an awesome stress relief?

I get stressed whenever I practice or play… and -especially- when someone is watching or I have to perform for someone. If anything, picking up an instrument has made me for anxiety stricken over these past years.
I associate the feeling of practicing/playing in front of people with public speaking. Yuck!

Answer
It just depends on the person. If you’re a person who just loves music more than anything in the world, you’ll find it a great escape to play and “get away from the world.” If you really love music you’ll just love the chance to get to practice and perform your talent for others. Performing for others is just something not everyone is good at though, and normal to be nervous.

Is Yahoo Answers a stress relief to you?

I admit, I haven’t been on in a while, but it’s just wow! I can like get myself something good to eat amd sit here for hours just reading other peoples problems trying to help out, it’s also a lot of fun things to read here, and you learn a lot. I really appreciate this website, it gives me time to set me into problems that for once aren’t mine, gives me something else to think of than school. Great stress relief from my point of view, do you share the same opinion?

Answer
I agree. I really, really appreciate this site. Whenever I’m anxious or feeling sick, it distracts me. When I’m sad, I try to help others and it makes me feel better. When I ask a question and get an answer, it makes me super happy, and it makes me even happier to answer someone else’s question and hope that I’m brightening their day, too. Offering my advice and experiences really makes me feel like I’m doing something good for someone else. And I like that feeling.

Can anyone help me find some stress relief methods?

I have Asperger’s Syndrome and Clinical Depression. I get these random bouts of anger and sadness and it frustrates my friends and family. This and a bunch of other things are causing a great deal of stress for me. I’ve tried writing, meditating and taking walks, but they don’t help. The only thing that seems to work for me is binge eating. I just eat and eat and it scares some of my friends. I’m trying to find other stress relief methods, but I can’t. Please help.

Answer
Relax your body completely.
Take in 4 deep breaths, repeating 4 to yourself as you exhale.
Then take 3 deep breaths, repeating 3 when you exhale.
Now take 2 deep breaths, repeating 2 when you exhale.
Finally, take 1 deep breath, repeating 1 as you exhale.

I need some stress relief tecniques to make my work days easier?

I work in a restaurant as an assistant kitchen manager. We are a very busy restaurant and each day is very demanding. There are a lot of young people that work there and they are just there for the pay cheque. I get very tense at work dealing with the day to day issues and would like to remain calm and stress free can anyone suggest something to get rid of the stress through out the day

Answer
I also work in a high stress career and have found that basic distractions at work help me the best. I eat a lot of hard candies, they help relieve stress because you can concentrate on the taste, shape, texture and if you really need to you can just crunch it and get rid of some tension. I also have stress balls. They sell many different kinds—different shapes and textures–give you something to take the stress out on and distract you at the same time.
Good luck and hope these help a little. You also said that most of the people that you work with are really young–I work with some of those also and a lot of times I just pretend that they are in elementary school—that way I don’t get quite as mad at them for being morons.
