Stress is now a universal ailment that people from all over the world suffer with. Many sicknesses originate with stress being the leading cause. Stress affects the health, your sex life, your relationship and eventually your life on the whole. StressRelief.co.za is dedicated to providing you with Stress Relief Resources and aids to reduce stress in your life.

Life, Love, and Stress

Many people in the world we live in today experience some form of stress. The inevitable stress is something that happens to all of us and leads many on a quest to find some way to deal with it. Stress relief is a great option because it provides you with a manageable and healthy way to deal with the stresses of everyday life, with work and school and other activities many adults, teens and children experience stress, which is why scientists have tried to find ways that will safely reduce those stresses.

When it comes to stress relief a lot of people turn to therapy or relaxation techniques to deal with stress, this is a very popular form of stress relief because in most cases it provides fast results and allows the person to calm down and reflect. Remember that stress will never totally disappear because no matter what, stress in going to occur whether you try to stop it or not, it is a natural part of life. Stress can also help you, it is not all bad, it can be a good motivator for people who need that extra push in work or school.

Eustress, Distress and How to Deal

If you are considering stress relief, you should first consider what kind of stress you are experiencing, not all stress is bad stress. There are two main kinds of stress, Eustress and distress. The first kind called Eustress, refers to positive or healthy stress, the Greek word for “good” is Eu which provides us with the term Eustress or good stress. This kind of stress can propel you to work harder, it gives you drive and motivation to do your best at whatever you have to do.

Eustress can be any kind of stress that has a positive experience behind it. The second kind of stress is distress which can be seriously harmful for you and the people around you, this kind of stress can make you cave under pressure, make you feel sick and fatigued. Usually distress is triggered by a traumatic event of some kind such as the death of a loved one.

But no matter what kind of stress you experience, stress relief is quite possibly the best way to deal with stress. Some helpful stress relief strategies include, full body relaxation techniques, these can be tremendously helpful when dealing with stress, start by sitting back closing your eyes and taking a deep breath lose yourself in thought but try not to think about anything that does not make you happy, with each deep breath relax your muscles starting at your head and working down, before you know it, you have relaxed your entire body, this can be a very helpful tool for stress relief.

Another good idea would be to think positively about your life and your job, thinking about things with a negative attitude only increases the stress level and it does not help your situation at all, so relax and try not to worry excessively, because worrying is never good for anyone. Setting goals for yourself can also be a helpful stress relief strategy, by setting yourself goals it gives you something to work toward one step at a time, avoiding the feeling of being overwhelmed.

Some natural herbs and minerals can help with stress as well, things like vitamin C and others can help you feel rejuvenated, while Calcium can help to relax your muscles which can be a big part in dealing with stress, the ability to relax is what you need for good stress relief. But not all stress relief is good, some people try to relieve stress by taking it out on others, overeating, or not eating at all. Stress is different for everyone and you should try to work with whatever makes you feel happy and healthy, try to avoid sugar and junk foods, going for a run or any other physical activity can be good when dealing with stress, it is really a matter of personal preference, doing what you love can help you relax and take your mind off the stressor.

Is it normal for a Personal Assistant to offer “Stress Relief Massage”?

Possible employer wrote: “I have a personal assistant role available for a few evenings a week.. jobs willinvolve, minor admin, phones, coffee making, stress reliueve massage etc…the usal PA stuff.”

I want to know if “Stress Relief Massage” is a normal PA activity?

Answer
I think it’s a red flag there’s so many misspellings in the job ad: “willinvolve”, “reliueve”, and “usal.” It’s also not in a professional, sentence format. I’d take these as warning signs, along with the fact he’s asking for massages.

What is the name of the Stress Relief desktop game?

I know there is a game where you can “destroy” your destop. It is a good stress reliever and I can’t find it. I know you can set termites on it and the flamethrower and ect. Does anyone know what the name of it is and where I can find it for free?

Answer
I know exactly what you’re talking about.

You used to be able to get it from http://gemtree.com (I used to go to that website all the time when I was younger and still remember it)

For some reason, I think they’ve disabled downloads and I don’t know why but maybe you can get it from another website.

This is the description: “Desktop Games (also known as Stress Reducer or Stress Relief) – play with your Windows desktop. You can chop it, cut it, shoot to pieces, repaint, stamp it. Or put termites on it and after that hunt them.”

I need some stress relief tecniques to make my work days easier?

I work in a restaurant as an assistant kitchen manager. We are a very busy restaurant and each day is very demanding. There are a lot of young people that work there and they are just there for the pay cheque. I get very tense at work dealing with the day to day issues and would like to remain calm and stress free can anyone suggest something to get rid of the stress through out the day

Answer
I also work in a high stress career and have found that basic distractions at work help me the best. I eat a lot of hard candies, they help relieve stress because you can concentrate on the taste, shape, texture and if you really need to you can just crunch it and get rid of some tension. I also have stress balls. They sell many different kinds—different shapes and textures–give you something to take the stress out on and distract you at the same time.
Good luck and hope these help a little. You also said that most of the people that you work with are really young–I work with some of those also and a lot of times I just pretend that they are in elementary school—that way I don’t get quite as mad at them for being morons.

What are some proven stress relief methods you use?

I’ve been told I need to relieve stress. Ive started listening to soft music at bedtime, and thats helped. looking for some more ideas.

Answer
Stress – it’ll Kill ya (or maybe me first)

You could think of it as a river – and you are the dam. It comes in at different speeds, and you have options that will build it up, or let it out.

First – manage stress coming in.
Don’t overdo it. – sign up, and tackle only what you can do, work on your to-do list, and git er done. Don’t bite off more than you can handle in one day.

Stress is digested fear. Fear that you won’t get things done. Fear that you’ll get fired. Fear that your relationship will fail. Logically manage what you can, and if something material is creating too much stress, it might be better to let it go.

Stress can be dispelled, once it’s tortured you.
techniques like meditation, exercise and rest are proven.
Of the meditation techniques I’ve used, the most recent is the “mindfulness” approach of Kabat-Zinn (possibly misspelled). Yoga helps some, and there are many approaches which are often taught in local communities and hospitals. – (if not, ask the doctor that told you to de-stress)

Sleep is critical – if you short yourself you could become one of those sleep deprived reality show types. Nutrition is relevant. Alcohol is anti sleep – it whacks your REM sleep – and after it wears off, you’re no further ahead in the stress game. Recent studies show that exercise directly works on the circuitry of depression – worsened by stress.

Finally if non-medical means don’t work, and you’re really becoming unravelled, there are medical approaches – antidepressant, other – which can be used – but I favor the natural. Lower cost and side effect rate.
