Dealing With Stress – Ways to Effective Stress Management

November 27, 2009 by Admin

Dealing with stress is something that everyone has to deal with, usually on a daily basis. It’s important to realize that you have to have an outlet for symptoms that stress causes. You know what it’s like. Frustration shows her pretty little head. Soon to follow is her cousin Anger, and eventually Rage crashes the party. It’s important that you deal with stress appropriately because its cause can be found everywhere:

You need to be able to find ways to release this stress. If you let stress build up in your life, you could become very unhealthy. You may not be able to sleep at night because you’re worrying so much. This will just lead to more stress when you’re not able to be as productive as you’d like because you’re so tired. Your diet and eating habits might become poor. If you’re too busy with your work to eat a nutritious meal, and instead make frequent stops for fast food, your body is going to respond by not giving you the energy you need, making you sluggish when you’re trying to finish that big project. You need to find ways to release the pent up feelings and emotions that stress causes. You should look to find something that will help relax you and recharge your battery, so to speak. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Running to release stress – Going for a run is an excellent way to release some stress. Some runners claim to get runners high, providing them with a sort of euphoric feeling after running. This is definitely better than feeling stressed out. After getting your heart rate up and working up a good sweat, you’ll feel reenergized to deal with the issues that are causing the stress in the first place.
  2. Deep breathing exercises to release stress – Stop whatever you’re doing, close your eyes, and take in a few deep breaths, letting them out slowly. As you breath in, feel the new energy come into your body. As you exhale, work to release all of the old, bad, stress energy out of you so that after this exercise you will be able to start fresh again and tackle the problems at hand.
  3. Take a day off to release stress – If you’re able, take a day off of work, or take a night out with just your husband or wife and leave the kids with a babysitter. Make time for yourself to get away from it all once in a while and enjoy yourself.

It’s unhealthy to be put in stressful situations and to not be able to release emotion and frustration that stress causes. It is important to balance your work with your play to stay healthy. By managing your stress effectively, you will be better at dealing with all the craziness and uncertainty that life has to offer.

Stress Reducing

November 26, 2009 by Admin

I’ll show you some stress reduction exercises that I do regularly each day. While we work, many of us get wound up. Our bodies and minds become frazzled and we wander into a state of too much polarity. That is when it is the right time to come back into the center. In the center there is peace. It is not to the left. It is not to the right. It is not female, male, cold, hot, democrat or republican. In the center you will find Mother Nature, the universe and God. When you arrive at the center with body, mind and soul then you regenerate and allow yourself the energy to carry on. You also give to yourself the ability to tune into creation and permit transmission/reception of energy in abundance.

Consuming enough vitamin B will help you to think logically during stressful times and will help your nerves remain calm. Another thing that can happen when you become stressed out is that your serotonin level dips down to a low point. This makes you really crave carbohydrates, a major source of serotonin. This isn’t necessarily a good thing because it’s what makes you reach for that bowl of potatoes when times are tough. Too much carbohydrate consumption can result in excessive weight gain.

One of the many anxiety release techniques I rely upon is to sit on a comfortable chair, wearing loose fitting clothes in a quiet and calm room of the house, making sure that you’re neither too warm nor too cold, but just right. Next close your eyes and visualize a lit candle. It doesn’t matter what sort of candle it is or what type of flame it has, but it just needs to feel real in your mind. Next focus on the flame and see it flickering and dancing around like it had a mind of its own. As you concentrate on this warm flame, feel all your worries and cares moving from you and being consumed by the flame.

Moving To Small Cities Can Eliminate Anxiety And Reduce Stress?

More and more white-collar feel tired owing to the fast rhythm in city and high pressure from work. In order to eliminate anxiety and reduce stress, some white-collar even quit their jobs, move to other small cities and look for relatively relaxed lifestyle. But ambitious young men almost all want to have better life so they often go to big cities. There is no doubt that a lot of work and development opportunities can be offered because big cities are usually the economic and cultural center in the region. But why white-collar chose to flee from cities?

Nowadays, the number of sudden death for white-collar because of excessive work pressure has been increasing. A friend once told me that he was almost crushed due to excessive labor intensity and psychological pressure from the work in spite of high salary. Gradually, he was often in the state of anger and fidgety. I believe this is the same case to most white-collar lived in city. In such condition, more and more white-collar chose to flee. In fact, most people also had such ideas but had no courage to face worse living conditions and low salary in small cities.

On the other hand, young people, especially graduates, still have the desire to work in big cities. In their opinion, they are young and have abundant physical and energy to undertake the pressure from work. Besides, although pressure still, there are also advantages such as abundant resources, high-salary and better opportunities. They believe they can success easily and achieve their life goals in such condition.

Moving to small cities, to a certain extent, can reduce work pressure and have a healthy life. In small cities, at daytime, you can breathe the fresh air, enjoy the sunshine, go fishing and do things what you like to do. At night, you can avoid from the traffic noises and have sweet dreams. But we must understand that stress, which may damage the white-collar’s health, from both life and work, is everywhere unless the social status changes fundamentally. What we should to do is working easily and enjoying our wonderful life.

Stress Busters: Tips for Managing Stress

Times have changed drastically and gone are the days, when the word stress was never heard of. In our 21st century lifestyle, stress is a very common word. Even children undergo stress in today’s lifestyle. Stress to some extent is good as it stimulates us to face challenges at work and home, but if stress crosses manageable boundaries, then it is time to wake up and take action. Stress is not only emotional, but also physical.

If you feel anxious all the time, loose sleep, have digestive problems, or are gaining weight, it might be most probably stress playing havoc on your body. Stress management has become very important in everybody’s life.

Identify the Source of Stress:

The first most important step in stress management is the identification of its source. Thought it is very easily said than done, but you need to take out some time ask yourself the following questions:

Evaluate your answers and you might be able to pinpoint the reason for your stress.

You can also maintain a written record of the day, time, the reason, and the details of the stress attack. Do this for a week and you will be able to pinpoint the reasons and find a way to deal with it.

Learn to Say ‘NO’

In our zeal to do our best, we sometimes forget the magical word ‘No’. Know your limits and capacity and stick to it, whether in your professional or personal time. If you feel it is not possible for you, say ‘NO’. It is always better to do the manageable than to end up with stress and anxiety attack.

Accept the Things that Cannot be Changed

There are always few things in our environment that we cannot change. For example, we cannot change the fact that there are only 24 hrs in a day. There are always things which will be beyond our control. Stressing over these uncontrollable situations will not help you in any way. Always try and see the positive side of your situations and turn them into means of your personal growth. If you feel too much burdened with your situation, talk to your friends and loved ones.

Take out Time for Fun and Relaxation

In today’s hectic schedule we have forgotten to laugh, smile, and have fun. It is very necessary that we take out time to relax and have fun. Weekends are just perfect for this. Do your favorite things over the weekend. Read a good book, go for a massage, spend some time on your hobby, or spend time with your kids or pets.

Apart from weekends, it is also very important to unwind and relax at the end of each day. The best way is to play with your pet, take a long bath, watch your favorite movie etc.

Track your Diet

Proper and healthy diet is the key to prepare our bodies to cope with everyday stress. Always remember to eat a healthy and balanced diet. Include lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains in your diet. Avoid too much of fatty foods and sugar. Start your day with a proper breakfast and have nutritious meals throughout the day.

Exercise

Regular exercise is a must as it keeps your body and mind ready to take on the day’s challenge. A 30-minute exercise thrice a week is enough to keep you fit physically and mentally.

Defeat Anxiety Disorders: Your Guide to its Symptoms and Treatment

In these turbulent times, it is very common for us to get anxious and feel panicky from time to time. In fact little anxiety is good for our health as it keeps us focused, alert, and motivated. But if you are constantly worried, have irrational fears, experience sudden heart-pounding panic attacks and if your sleep and food patterns have changed drastically, then it is time that you get medical help as you might be suffering from anxiety disorder.

Anxiety attacks, also known as panic attacks usually occur suddenly, with or without a trigger. One might suddenly start feeling overwhelming panic, trembling or shaking, nausea, stomach cramps, hot flashes or chill etc when confronted with a situation or place they don’t like, or sometimes it happens without any reason at all

But there is no need to worry as anxiety and panic disorders are treatable. Before starting with the treatment, a psychotherapist will do a complete diagnostic evaluation through an interview and review of medical records. This will help in identifying the type of anxiety disorder you are suffering and also check if there is any medical condition triggering it.

There are six types of anxiety disorders – Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorders, Phobia, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder.

Depending on the type and its severity a psychotherapist will prescribe a specific treatment approach for the anxiety disorder. Anxiety and panic disorders are generally treated with either behavioral therapy, medical treatment, or if required, a combination of both.

Medication:

Generally a psychotherapist prescribes antidepressant, tranquilizers, and anti-stress and anti-panic drugs. But these are prescribed for only a short time frame, so as to stop the anxiety disorder from interfering with normal life.

Behavioral Therapy:

Behavioral therapy is also used as a treatment for anxiety and panic disorders. There are two types of behavioral therapies – Cognitive-behavior Therapy and Exposure Therapy.

Cognitive-behavior Therapy:

This type of therapy is used to identify the negative thinking and irrational beliefs and then challenge them headlong.

Exposure Therapy:

In this type of therapy, your psychotherapist will make you confront your fears in a controlled environment. This type of therapy will help you in gaining a sense of control over your fears.

Apart from the medical help, you can also do the following that will help you in taking control of your situation:

1. Exercise Daily:

By exercising, you will be able to manage your anxieties and also burn those stress chemicals and become relaxed.

 2. Take Proper Diet:

Having a proper diet is very important. Include lots of leafy vegetables, whole grain food, and low fat in your diet. Avoid nicotine and caffeine, as they might aggravate your symptoms.

 3. Learn to Relax:

Learn to relax and take out time to enjoy. Enroll in a dance class, or start spending some time on your hobby.

 4. Get all the Emotional Support You Can:

It is always great to be surrounded by people who love and care for you. Don’t be shy to take some emotional support from your friends and family. They will be more than happy to be there for you.

Stress Management Tips

Our every day life is characterized by circumstances that bring pressure and inhibit our normal functioning. This is what is referred to as stress. However, it is important to keep in mind that, allowing stress to take over will not do anything to sort your problems. The best way to handle stress is to be armed with stress management strategies to keep you going and to help relieve the pressure.

Stress management begins when you realize that, you alone are in control of your life. It is about taking charge of what you allow your mind to think about, what emotions you allow to run through you, how you plan your schedule and your approach to your problems. Once you are aware of this, you will begin to realize that only you have the capacity to make the most out of these factors for your own good.

Stress management is also about being able to meet problems head on without postponing the task. The goal should be to achieve a balanced life that encompasses all aspects; work, play, leisure, relationships and spirituality. Identifying the source of an unpleasant situation is not always a very easy thing to do. This is because the stressing factor could be a combination of more than two elements in the environment around you. For example, your source of stress could be family and work pressures. Another source could be your own negative thought patterns that you may not even be aware of.

Once you have identified the source of the stress, you must start working on it. Look at the way in which you respond or react to the situation, and which just plays a part in making the situation worse. Establish other ways in which you could handle the situation, and which would lessen the intensity of the stress. Decide to always apply that mechanism whenever a similar situation arises.

Can Stress Supplements Help Alleviate Stress?

I don’t know about you, but it sure seems like we’re all a bit on hyperdrive. It’s as if we’re all on a treadmill, trying to outdo each other in a stress marathon. Then something happens and it’s like our engine’s out of gas. Immediately we begin to ask, “What the?” It’s a sure sign: we’re stressed. The one benefit of chronic stress: we get to rest soon, we’ll be pushing up daisies. How can we get off the bullet train? I found a health company that seems to hit the nail on the head when suggesting a few products to deal with stress that really work: natural stress relief

That question is like Forrest Gump chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get. We’re all in this, well…separate, actually: we’re all unique. We all need to take this step to begin: ask ourselves what the biggest cause(s) is for our stress and organize a targeted approach. Armed with that knowledge, hitting the biggest target becomes…a lot less stressful!

Since we aren’t writing a e-book here, let’s focus on some main points for a comprehensive stress management solution:

1) Get with people you trust. This is not optional. A support group can be specific to the stressor, such as a 12-step group if your main stressor can be addressed at such, or as simple as your co-workers, cousins or closest friends. Since this isn’t negotiable, if you don’t have anyone to suit the job, then you may have to hire a professional counselor.

2) Get fit. Without going too biology-teacher on you, there is a real biological process involving hormones such as cortisol that cause real physical harm when you’re stressed. Your body’s chemistry regulates itself by nutrients found in healthy tissue like muscle and bone. Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia are the two conditions of losing bone and muscle tissue during “catabolism.” Left uncorrected, stress truly does lead to loss of healthy tissue, which is why “stress kills” isn’t just a cliche. Bodybuilding and cardiovascular exercise can honestly keep the doctor away as muscle and bones are then being strengthened.

3) Eat right. The body reacts to stress by trying to get back to “homeostasis.” The human body will begin to break down itself in order to survive, for lack of proper nutrition. Another complication that’s common to us today is acidosis, or having a slightly more acidic pH than we should have, which gives rise to a host of further complications. A great thing to do is to feed your body a daily multi-vitamin and multi-mineral supplement. You should strongly consider adding the B-complex vitamins, as well as vitamins A, C and E, a buffering agent called potassium bicarbonate, and a great herb called “Caterpillar Mushroom Extract. There are a host of other herbs, vitamins and minerals specifically beneficial to chilling out and fighting stress – it’s worth looking into. As an absolutely non-negotiable: you HAVE TO consult with your doctor before making any of these dietary changes.

4) Relax! If you don’t, I just might get stressed out too. You need to have proper “chill time” on a daily basis. Like many of us normal humans, you’re probably losing sleep to late working nights or watching your favorite sit com, or you should be doing the latter in moderation. Laughing fights stress, too. The body needs proper rest – a good 7-8 hours is a fantastic way to stop the stress cycle. There are more studies proving sleep is a chief cause for stress that we can’t count them all. Listen to your body, you’ll be amazed what this free, no-cost solution does to your mood and outlook.

5) Stop and taste the “joy”. There are a host of other solutions that could be mentioned, but the final thought for this article will be this: give yourself some kind of “joy break,” doing something you love. You can do it alone or with loved ones, or great friends. Don’t put this off as if it doesn’t matter, taking time to slow down and do something enjoyable just might give you the perspective and rest you need to recover.
