Stress Management Tips For Workaholics

Those who spend more time with their works tend to suffer from stress more than the other. The mental and emotional burden that is often attributed to the demands of work can affect our productivity and efficiency with our task that would often lead us to troubles than not. This is one reason why it is very important for workaholics to undertake stress management to avoid compromising their career.

You don’t have to be in a special place to apply stress management. In fact, you can do it anytime and anywhere if you feel like it. You can do it while at your work desk, in the comfort room, or even out in the lobby. The idea here is to control your mind to relax so that you can continue fresh with your task — emotionally, physically, and mentally. Here are some tips that will surely help you out.

Tip # 1: Understand The Cause Of Your Stress

You will never be able to get rid of stress if you don’t know what’s causing it. The first stress management tip you might want to apply is to determine what stressed you out. If it is the project you are working on, your boss, or with your work mates then take some time to determine what about them that gave you stress. Feel free to list them down if you want to keep track of it.

Tip # 2: Learn To Relax Your Mind

Relaxation is a very useful stress management technique. Having a clear and focused mind can help in dealing with problems even before they blow up on your faces. You can relax by doing light meditation, breathing exercise, or simply get out for a breath of fresh air. Try to stop thinking about the cause for a few minutes to clear your head.

Keep in mind that there are different ways to help you relax. You can do yoga or a deep meditation exercise during your break. If you don’t know where to start, then you can buy self-help books that detail the steps to help you get started. If you have a ready access to the Internet, feel free to look for relaxation tips online and apply it at your leisure.

Tip # 3: Indulge In After-Work Pampering

If you have some free time off from work then you might want to take advantage of this by pampering yourself in the local spa. You don’t have to undergo a complete full-body pampering treatment just to help you relax. A simple massage or aromatherapy session will do. Keep in mind that a massage can be a relaxation technique for both the mind and the body so having one during your free time will help you relax enough to face the burden of work with a fresh mind.

Make This A Daily Habit

Integrate your stress management techniques with your daily lifestyle if you want to be good at it for your self-improvement project. Doing it just because you got stressed with work is not a good way to practice stress management. You need to keep practicing your chosen method or technique until you can do it instantaneously. Learn to relax every single time when you’re at work and you will surely see that no amount of bickering with your boss or noise from your workmates will stress you out.

The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran (16)

This is the 16th article of the series:” The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran”.

The Bible affirms the Faith in the Son of God by saying who is overcoming the world? It is only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.  The Noble Quran says that it is an unforgivable sin when you say or believe that the Almighty Creator has a son or sons; this major sin will lead to the Eternal Fire in the Hereafter.

——————————————————————–

The Sons of the Lord God in the Bible (16)

The Bible (1 John 5:1-5) says that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? It is only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

——————————————–

1 John 5:1-5 in five different versions of the Bible:

New International Version

1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

American Standard Version

1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is begotten of God: and whosoever loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2 Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

4 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even our faith.

5 And who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

English Standard Version

1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. 2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. 3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith. 5Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

King James Version

1Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

The Sons of the Lord God in the Quran (16)

The Noble Quran makes the topic of the sons of God very clear and says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.

In addition, The Quran makes the signs that Jesus was not god very understandable.

The Quran says that Allah will say unto Jesus at the Resurrection in rebuke of his followers: ‘O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to mankind in the life of this world, “Take me and my mother as gods, besides Allah”?’

Jesus will say unto Allah: ‘Glory be to You!, exalted be You above all that does not befit You, such as having a partner and so on. It is not mine; it is unjustified for me, to say what I have no right to.

It is not befitting for the Majesty of Allah to take to Himself a son.

Allah is exalted, magnified; He is above what they associate with Him of son or partners.  Allah is far transcendent above all that they ascribe unto Him!

In Islam, this point is very important faith wise.

  1. Again, it is unforgivable sin to say or to believe that the One Almighty Creator [who is Allah or God or the Lord or Jehovah or whatever name(s) you are giving Him] has a son or Sons.

From the Islamic point of view, the conclusion of this fundamental topic that may establish or destroy the faith is that:

Any one who believe that the Almighty Creator has a son or Sons; he messes up his faith and is considered as a disbeliever and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the Eternal Hell.

Any one who believes that the Almighty Creator has no son or partner, he has a good faith and is considered as a believer; and in the afterlife, he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the Eternal Paradise.

Verses 5:116-119 make the topic of the son(s) of God plain, clear and understandable.

The meanings of verses 5:116-119:

The meanings of verse 5:116

And, mention when God will say, to Jesus at the Resurrection in rebuke of his followers: ‘O Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to mankind in the life of this world, “Take me and my mother as gods, besides Allah”?’

He, Jesus, says, shuddering: ‘Glory be to You!, exalted be You above all that does not befit You, such as having a partner and/or a son. It is not mine who said that, it is unjustified for me, to say what I have no right to.

You know what I have conveyed to them of commands and prohibitions.

If I indeed had said it to them, You would have known it. You know what is, hidden by me, in my self, but I do not know what is within Your Self, that is, what You keep hidden of Your knowledge.

  1. You know what is in my self, though I do not know what is in Your Self; You are the Knower of things unseen. You are the Knower things hidden from the servants; and no one can have knowledge of it besides You.

The meanings of verse 5:117

(Jesus continues) I only said to them in the life of this world only that which You commanded me, to say, and that is: “Worship Allah, declare Allah’s divine Oneness and obey Him; He is my Lord and yours.”

And I was a witness, a watcher, over them, preventing them from saying what they used to say by conveying your message whilst I dwelt among them; but when You took me, when You raised me up to the heaven, You were Yourself the Watcher over them, You were the Protector and Witness of them, the Observer of their deeds, and You Yourself are Witness over all things, Aware and knowing them, including what I said to them and what they said after me, and whatever else.

The meanings of verse 5:118

(Jesus continues) If you chastise them, that is, those among them who are fixed upon disbelief, verily they are Your slaves, and You are their Master, disposing of them as You will: there can be no objection to what You do; and if You forgive them, lo! they are Your slaves. You, only You, are the Mighty in His affair and the Wise in His actions.

The meanings of verse 5:119

  1. This is a day in which their truthfulness profited the Truthful, and their faith the believers and their conveyance the conveyors of messages and their loyalty the loyal people; for theirs are Gardens underneath which, beneath its trees and couches, rivers of water, milk, wine and honey which flow wherein they are secure and they shall abide forever; in such Paradise they dwell, never to die or be removed from it.

Allah is well-pleased with them, because of their faith, works and obedience to Him, and they are well-pleased with Him, because of His reward and the honor bestowed upon them.  That which I have mentioned of eternity and pleasure is the great triumph; the ultimate safety: they earned Paradise and were saved from the torment of hell.   The sincerity of those who were liars in this world shall not avail them on that Day, just as it shall not avail the disbelievers when they (will) believe upon seeing the chastisement.

Verses 5:116-119 of the Noble Quran in four different translations:

Verse 5:116

QARIB: and when Allah said: ‘( prophet) Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to the people: “take me and my mother for two gods, other than Allah?” ‘exaltations to you, ‘ he said, ‘how could i say that to which i have no right? if i had said that, you would have surely known. you know what is in my self, but i do not know what is in yours. indeed, you are the knowledgeable of the unseen.

SHAKIR: and when Allah will say: o isa son of marium! did you say to men, take me and my mother for two gods besides Allah he will say: glory be to thee, it did not befit me that i should say what i had no right to (say); if i had said it, thou wouldst indeed have known it; thou knowest what is in my mind, and i do not know what is in thy mind, surely thou art the great knower of the unseen things

PICKTHAL: and when Allah saith: o Jesus, son of Mary! didst thou say unto mankind: take me and my mother for two gods beside Allah? he saith: be glorified! it was not mine to utter that to which i had no right. if i used to say it, then thou knewest it. thou knowest what is in my mind, and i know not what is in thy mind. lo! thou, only thou, art the knower of things hidden?

YUSUFALI: and behold! Allah will say: “o Jesus the son of marry! didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah’?” he will say: “glory to thee! never could i say what i had no right (to say). had i said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. thou knowest what is in my heart, thou i know not what is in thine. for thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

Verse 5:117

QARIB: i spoke to them of nothing except that which you ordered me, that you worship Allah, my lord and our lord. i witnessed them whilst living in their midst and ever since you took me to you, you have been the watcher over them. you are the witness of everything.

SHAKIR: i did not say to them aught save what thou didst enjoin me with: that serve Allah, my lord and your lord, and i was a witness of them so long as i was among them, but when thou didst cause me to die, thou wert the watcher over them, and thou art witness of all things

PICKTHAL: i spake unto them only that which thou commandedst me, (saying): worship Allah, my lord and your lord. i was a witness of them while i dwelt among them, and when thou tookest me thou wast the watcher over them. thou art witness over all things.

YUSUFALI: “never said i to them aught except what thou didst command me to say, to wit, ‘worship Allah, my lord and your lord’; and i was a witness over them whilst i dwelt amongst them; when thou didst take me up thou wast the watcher over them, and thou art a witness to all things.

Verse 5:118

QARIB: if you punish them (for their disbelief), they surely are your subjects; and if you forgive them, surely you are the almighty, the wise. ‘

shouldst forgive them, then surely thou art the mighty, the wise

PICKTHAL: if thou punish them, lo! they are thy slaves, and if thou forgive them (lo! they are thy slaves). lo! thou, only thou, art the mighty, the wise.

YUSUFALI: “if thou dost punish them, they are thy servant: if thou dost forgive them, thou art the exalted in power, the wise.”

Verse 5:119

QARIB: Allah will say: ‘this is the day the truthful shall benefit by their truthfulness. they shall live for ever in gardens underneath which rivers flow. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with him. that is the great winning. ‘

SHAKIR: Allah will say: this is the day when their truth shall benefit the truthful ones; they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow to abide in them for ever: Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Allah; this is the mighty achievement

PICKTHAL: Allah saith: this is a day in which their truthfulness profiteth the truthful, for theirs are gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they are secure for ever, Allah taking pleasure in them and they in him. that is the great triumph.

YUSUFALI: Allah will say: “this is a day on which the truthful will profit from their truth: theirs are gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal home: Allah well-pleased with them, and they with Allah: that is the great salvation, (the fulfillment of all desires).

7 Ways to Overcome Anxiety Attacks

August 12, 2009 by Admin

With all the stress and uncertainty facing us in our everyday lives it is easy to understand why anxiety attacks are so common. The recent economic downturns worldwide have only contributed to the amount of anxiety and stress we all experience.

With the seemingly endless assaults on our mental health it has become increasingly more important to learn how to overcome anxiety and panic attacks. Fear of losing your home, your job, even your life savings has put everyone under a tremendous amount of pressure. Our control over these issues is somewhat limited and this we must accept. There is however active measures we can take for managing stress which leads to the anxiety and panic attacks that threaten both our physical and mental well being.

Let’s look at 7 ways in which you can minimize and control the negative affects of these attacks and regain your emotional stability and peace of mind.

Gain Separation

The first and best thing to do when experiencing attacks of anxiety is to get away from the source if at all possible. By gaining this separation you are better able to keep the tension or stress from compounding any further then it already has.

Compose Yourself

Collect your thoughts and regroup them. Consider what has occurred and how best to handle it. Determine if perhaps you’ve overreacted or even if the reason for your anxiety is really all that important. Focus more on thinking as opposed to emotionally reacting.

Peace and Quiet

What you need most is to locate a quiet place where you can more easily calm yourself down. Avoid chaos or highly trafficked areas since this could increase the tension you may feel. Your ability to focus is something you’ll need to get your feelings back under control so find a place conducive to deep uninterrupted thought

Seek Fresh Air

If possible go outside where the fresh air and the environment will serve to have a calming effect on you. The natural surroundings will help to clear your thoughts and diffuse your tense emotional state.

The Tranquility of Water

Water has a very calming effect on just about everybody and is actually recognized for its beauty and tranquility. If you can locate some running water all the better due to its ability to naturally mesmerize you which will detract attention away from your source of angst.

Breathe Deeply

When emotions run high there is a natural tendency to hyperventilate which will only help increase the tension you feel. Take active measures to breathe slowly, deliberately, and deeply. This will help to decelerate the escalation of any inner tensions you are experiencing.

Tune In

Listening to music which is soothing will again help to redirect your immediate thoughts away from any anxiety you feel. The calmer the music the more effective it will be towards soothing your emotions. Even if you are a hard rock or rap fan you will still appreciate and benefit from this type of music.

There’s no doubt anxiety attacks can cause major damage to your physical and mental health.  The stress we’re feeling from both our personal and professional lives can be overwhelming at times. The causes for our anxiety and stress are often times unavoidable. We can however learn how to overcome these negative effects by managing stress instead of trying to avoid it. By taking active measures such as the 7 aforementioned approaches discussed above you can minimize the paralyzing effects of anxiety. What you stand to gain is the peace of mind and the tranquility you need to be productive in business and happy in life. You are entitled to this right so enjoy it!

Recognize and Control Your Anger – Tips for Anger Management

August 11, 2009 by Admin

Anger that leads to violent behavior is serious and needs suitable intervention. A person who exhibits behaviors that can lead to damage of another or property damage needs psychological services from an expert trained in anger management. This article is written for those people whose anger management issues cause them problems (i.e., loss of a job, loss of relationships) but do not cause significant harm to them.

Identify at least three behaviors and emotions. Identify the difference between negative emotions and negative behaviors. The significant point to stress is that all behaviors are OK, but negative behaviors are not. Identify different types of behaviors and emotions. Make a list of as many emotions as possible and show visual representation of feelings. Organizer and participants can also act out different emotions.

Identify different conditions in which people feel ordinary emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, fear, and enthusiasm. Have the participants explain how they behave in those conditions. Differentiate between the feelings of anger and the behaviors of anger. Ask if there are any negative emotions. Stress throughout the lesson that anger, sadness, etc. are ok, but it is not ok to violent, call people names, or shout at people. Spend time discussing and using examples that differentiate negative behavior from negative emotions.

Identify at least three physiological responses that are treating that a person may be distress. It is significant for the participants to know that how we feel on the inside and what we are showing on the outside gives us clues that we may be annoyed. If a person can recognize the anger prior to doing something unsuitable, he or she can do something suitable. Identify how people experience when they get upset. People can monitor by self or by trainer to recognize the signs of getting angry by paying attention to behavior (raising voice, pacing, rubbing head, etc.) and feelings.

Indicate that a person has an option at this point. He can shout, hit, curse, or do something mean, or he can do something more suitable. Know how to control anger by reading some anger journals regularly. It provides guidelines and information on what upsets a person and how they respond. Remember that it is frequently difficult for people to confess that they have been angry. Review yourself. Thus, it is important to strengthen any attempt to document an episode of anger, regardless of the result. Trainers should give feedback.

Role and Importance of Fitness in Stress Management

August 10, 2009 by Admin

Nowadays, everything is so competitive and this causes stress. To deal with stress fitness plays an important role. If you are healthy and fit, you easily manage your stress. Most people are losing their weight to keep themselves fit and healthy. It is very important for people to understand that being physically fit and being thin are not always comprehensive. A person who is thin but does not exercise regularly may have low energy, clogged arteries, and problem concentrating at job. On the other hand, a fat person can have a strong heart and excellent energy at job due to regular exercise. It is important to keep in the mind that a person, who is obese, regardless of his fitness level, is at risk for health harms.

Maintaining fitness improves strength and power of the body and mind. Some people may disagree with this declaration, particularly after they begin an exercise program and they are sore, exhausted, and ready to quit. Inform the people that once they take on more physically active lifestyle, they will gradually start to feel better, their bodies will be inclined to burn fat better, and they will lose weight. In addition, this improved energy transfers into being more creative at job and at home.

Improving fitness helps a person think well when under pressure or acute stress. Use the following information to clarify this complex process. When we are under pressure or stress, our heart beats faster, we may begin to sweat, and we may breathe harder. If our bodies are not used to those changes (pressure or stress), we tend to have a tough time thinking and managing the pressure. When we are energetic, the same changes in our bodies take place. If we are having enjoyment and thinking while we are active, then our bodies get practice for dealing with the increased heart beats, breathing, etc. Also, the more fit a person is, the more action is needed to make these changes in the body. Therefore, when a person gets in a worrying situation or extreme pressure, a fit body is not going to react as radically as an unfit body. A better mind and capability to handle stress will definitely get better work performance.

Increasing fitness improves strength and bones. This benefit is understandable. For a person, who have jobs that require physical exertion, strong strength and muscles lead to better performance and a decrease chance for injury.

Stress and Money – How Getting a Handle on Stress Can Help You Make More Money – And Keep it Too

August 9, 2009 by Admin

Lack of money is a frequent cause of stress. That’s not a surprise. But do you ever think about how stress could actually cause a lack of money? Read on for 5 ways in which excess stress can hurt your financial success.

1) Stress is a handicap

While a little bit of stress can add that extra inspiration some of us need to get things done, a lot of stress has the opposite effect. It will make it next to impossible to perform at our usual level. And the longer it lasts, the worse it gets.

And guess what low levels of performance can mean? You may make costly mistakes — costly either for you if you have your own business, or for your employer. Either way, they will impact your bottom line, sooner or later.

2) Stress can make you sick

And being sick has two bad effects when it comes to money: It costs money to take care of yourself and get better again. And you may lose business because you can’t keep up with the work.

3) Stress keeps the good stuff away

If you’re familiar with the law of attraction, you may already know that stress is bad news when it comes to vibrations. Stress means tension. It means focus on negatives. It means fear, worry, and anticipation of worst-case scenarios. And if you focus on bad stuff, it tends to appear in your life.

4) Stress robs you of perspective

When we’re stressed, our world gets smaller and smaller, and our perspective shrinks to literally what’s in front of us, with a steady dose of worry of what horrible things could befall us. This is not a good place to be in when it comes to making wise decisions. So you may end up making decisions or taking actions that will come back to haunt you.

5) Stress is a money drain

How could stress be a money drain? Let me count the ways: You may have medical bills because you get sick. You make unwise purchasing decisions because you’re desperate. You’re so stressed you don’t keep track of your checking account or your bills and you get flooded with late fees and overdraft fees. And the more stressed you are, the more you have the urge to “treat” yourself, and with reason being at an all-time low, that can get costly too, and easily more costly than you can afford.

So let’s recap: Stress can cost you money in many ways. But you don’t have to let it get to you if you have some stress management strategies to help you tame it. And here’s a related article about <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href=" money”>http://ezinearticles.com/?id=2626110″>money stress.

Don’t Let Stress Wear You Out

August 8, 2009 by Admin

Expecting too much of yourself can turn out to be a stress trigger. Mr Lucas is a relationship executive at a MNC company. He took on too much work and didn’t know how to say no to a heavier work load. Mr Lucas simply felt anxious almost every day. His heart beats faster and he experienced heavy breathing. To cope with his stress, Mr Lucas turned to cigarettes and alcohol, which weren’t of much help. Eventually, he quited his job and is currently unemployed.

According to several pscyhotherapists and medical personnels, a person under stress may exhibit emotional symptoms like poor concentration, mood swings and feelings of cynicism. Physical symptoms are tightness in chest and tension headaches. And behavioural symptoms are like smoking and drinking more, overeating or loss of appetite, and withdrawing from family and friends. He or she may also be overwhelmed by negative thoughts such as “Why everyone dislike me!” or “Why am I such a failure in life!”

While moderate level of stress can motivate one at work, excessive stress, like in Mr Lucas’ case, can result in disinterest in work, and eventually, a burnout. Nonetheless, a suitable level of stress is still important in helping you to increase your motivation and improve your performance and work and also increase your efficiency and productivity. On the other hand, if you do not manage your excessive stress properly, it may lead to negative effects such as a fall in performance levels.

Having said so, we must understand that stress is unavoidable and it is important for us to find ways to manage stress. Basically, it helps to know certain effective techniques to reduce stress, which can be reducing outside demands on yourself or by increasing your own ability to cope with stress. For instance, prioritise what your duties and tasks properly in your workplace so that you can focus on the truly “important” rather than the many “urgent” activities.

It also helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly, avoiding bad habits like smoking or drinking alcohol, getting enough rest and making time to do the things you enjoy everyday.

However, in cases when your stress is really too much to tolerate, seek professional advice immediately by visiting a counsellor, psychologist or medical doctor.

A typical consultation includes an assessment of your stress scale, an assessment of your emotional and biological disposition to stress, and a review of what are the stressful events and incidences in your life. This is to determine the possible causes of stress which are important to help you manage your stress well in return. A health professional can help and advise you accordingly on some stress reduction techniques and ways to manage stress.

Some Good Suggestions To Manage Stress:

  • Enrol in stress management talks, workshops and programmes.
  • Identify the stressors and deal with them one by one.
  • Seek help. Talk to a friend, family member, co-worker, counsellor, psychologist or some you trust.
  • Focus on what you have accomplished and derive a sense of satisfaction because dwelling on the work that is incomplete results in further demoralisation of oneself.
  • Take short breaks during work, have a snack or drink before returning to work.
  • Do stretches in the office to relieve tension accumulated from sitting down for a long time.
  • Exercise regularly as it helps with sleep problems and also provides health and mind benefits.
  • Do things that you enjoy, such as meditation, reading or listening to music, on a regular basis.
  • Go travelling with your loved ones as you may return with a fresh perspective on life.

My conclusion: Learn to keep stress at bay by maintaining a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, at least thrice per week, having a balanced and good diet daily and stay positive and do things that you enjoy in your life.

The effects of stress on the body is a very powerful and impactful enemy. We must try our best to enforce stress reduction techniques, stress management techniques and do some stress relief exercise to manage stress effectively. Personally speaking, stress cannot be cured or totally eliminated. Stress is a part and parcel of life and we must learn to deal with stress properly.

Stress affects our lifestyle and we can’t get away from it totally. Some come from the pressure of work, problems in relationships, money, school assignment and examinations. Even environmental changes such as change in the weather may also trigger off some stress related symptoms in a person. Nevertheless, a moderate amount of stress can serve you good by making you feel energize, motivated and improve your performance overall. But too much of stress can be debilitating.

Our human body is designed in such a way that when we experience stress, we will react to it. Positive stress can keep us alert and ready to avoid danger, whereas negative stress makes a person to face continuous challenges without relief or relaxation between challenges. Consequently, a person will become overworked and stress-related tension accumulate up.

Let me touch on the topic of what are the effects of stress on the body. Your body is like a fragile vase and you need to take good care of it and prevent it from falling down and broken into pieces.

Physical illnesses related to stress are numerous and varied. Some of these include a poor immune system, which results in a person falling sick easily, mental disorders like depression, anxiety disorders and heart diseases like heart failure, heart attack and hypertension and even body weight may be affected with some experiencing weight gain  and other having weight loss significantly. The following is a list of the effects of stress on the body.

Effects Of Stress On The Body:

  • You may feel nervous easily especially in social environment
  • You may experience pain of any kind which may occur on any parts of your body
  • You may experience muscle tension and severe muscle pain
  • You may experience frequent tension headaches
  • You may feel tired constantly (even when you wake up in the morning)
  • You may have stomach upset
  • Your heart rate may increase tremendously and this may lead to heart problems

Stress also becomes harmful when people use alcohol, tobacco, or drugs to try to relieve their stress. Unfortunately, these methods are harmful as instead of bring us back to our relaxed state, these substances tend to make our body stays in a stressed state and cause more health problems.

Simply said, if your stress is less unchecked or untreated, the prolonged influence of stress will affect your health and you are almost certain to become another victim to the side effects of stress. You may even suffer from stroke or severe depression!

There are many ways to manage stress and one of the most effective way is to practise deep breathing exercise. Through deep breathing, you can be aware of your body and subconsciously, your heart rate will become normal and you will achieve calmness and relaxation. This will effectively stop your stress. Do deep breathing frequently to prevent stress from building up in the long term.

There are many ways to manage stress but we need to choose the appropriate and good stress reduction techniques that suit us the best. If you keep experiencing prolonged stress – even at low levels – it can have a terrible negative effect on your over health and well-being. That’s why stress management and stress reduction aren’t something to reserve only for difficult times, but something to practice daily. One of the best way to look for ways to manage stress is to look online by Googling. Nowadays, with the advent of the internet, finding ways to manage stress is as simple as ‘rolling down the bed’.

People look for ways to manage stress when they are totally at their wits’ end for managing stress. In this fast pace and highly competitive world, dealing with daily stress like job stress, relationship stress and study stress is very difficult. We need to really sit down and find time for ourselves to relax and de-stress. If we could not even make time and space for ourselves for stress relief and relaxation, it would be a chore living in this world.

Stress, anxiety and depression are the modern day plagues and if you’re suffering from them, then I know how you feel because anxiety and depression caused terrible misery to me for 4 years. From feeling helpless, lonely and isolated to the crushing exhaustion that makes even the most simple of tasks so very hard, these problems create a living nightmare. And you’re not alone- over 20 million US citizens endure the misery of stress, depression and anxiety every year.

My personal perspective is that, if we can’t even come up with a top 10 ways to manage stress, then our priorities in the area of self improvement need readjusting.

For myself, I found the way back to a normal and happy life with natural stress relievers. And I promise you, no matter how you feel right now and no matter how long you’ve suffered; you can get your life back and enjoy happiness again. What’s more, you can do it without suffering the side effects of antidepressants and once you’ve beaten stress, depression and anxiety, you’ll have beaten them FOREVER!

The following is my top 10 ways to manage stress:

Top 10 Ways To Manage Stress

  1. Relaxation – Make relaxation part of your everyday’s routine. While at home or in the office, remember to do deep breathing and simple stretches. Take time to sooth your soul by drinking a cup of tea or just going out to the open to breathe in some fresh air can give you the ability to deal with stress more effectively.
  2. Laughter - Laughter is our body’s built in stress-buster. Research has shown that laughter can help the body to release anxiety, aggression, fear and anger. In fact, laughing can decrease the stress hormones which are adrenaline, cortisol, epinephrine, dopac and allowing these stress hormones to return to their normal levels. If left uncontrolled, these stress hormones can constrict your blood vessels which will lead to hypertension and heart-related problems.
  3. Find a friend – Ask your best friend out to vent your frustrations, of course, I am not asking you to vent your frustration on him or her. Simply talk to your best friend about your problems and ask them to offer you words of encouragement as friends can provide the much needed social support. In addition, if you friend is humorous enough to joke with you and make you laugh out loud, all the better, as laughter is proven to reduce stress and tension.
  4. Get back to nature - Go out to the outdoors into the nature. Simply enjoy a relaxing day of out of doors which can help you to feel calmer and more balanced during your daily routine. A stroll down the park, cycling at the park or a day at the beach can be amazing stress reducer. If you cannot get such activities on the outdoors, simply try to listen to a CD of nature sounds or just spend a few minutes in front of your sunny window.
  5. Make time to exercise regularly – Exercise can affect the energy level of your body and also tell your brain’s chemistry to release beneficial hormones. In addition, exercising can also help you to let go of your tension and accumulated energy associated with stress and give you a healthy outlet to release your build-up feelings and energy. Exercise can give you a better mood which lasts for days, but regular exercise is the most uplifting.
  6. Positive thinking – Throughout the day, go through your thoughts and if you encounter any negative thoughts, try to reframe those thoughts in a positive way. Remember to always think positively and optimistically.
  7. Eating well – Another of what I use as my top 10 ways to manage stress is feeding my body right: right food, rightly. Select food that are green and fresh as these food are the most beneficial to our body. With the right nourishment of healthy food, our body system will be able to fight stress in the long-term more efffectively.
  8. Do something that you like everyday – Each day, give yourself some time to indulge in something that you enjoy doing. It could be writing, reading, dancing, walking, gardening or simply just have a good chat on the phone with someone. Research has shown that by doing something that you enjoy everyday, it will improve your quality of life and frame of mind, and makes you better in combating and handling stress whenever it arises.
  9. Let go of worries and negative thoughts – One of my best stress relief techniques is to let go of stressful thoughts before they get out of control and affects your state of mind. Simply focus on such negative thought and firmly say “Stop and get lost!” to prevent the though from recycling itself in your mind. By doing so, you will be able to curb such negative thoughts from influencing your mood and feelings.
  10. Guided imagery to relax – Guided imagery is a powerful stress reduction techniques that can help you to stay relaxed during periods of stress. Learn to imagine yourself in a serene and peaceful setting that you will feel safe and nurturing. You can imagine yourself to be in a place where you’ve feel light-hearted and calm in the past. 5 Ways to Overcome a Bad Mood

August 6, 2009 by Admin

A bad mood is capable of striking anybody at one point or another. These seemingly inexplicable ‘spells’ that assault our positive demeanor can ruin an entire day. When you’re moody nothing seems to go right. The negative outlook this creates can set the stage for experiencing conflict or difficulties in areas that were otherwise problem free. As your thinking patterns tend to lack positive thoughts you can easily create a ‘vortex’ of negativity that will lead to nowhere good.

Perhaps the most dangerous part of carrying around the negative emotions that result from moods like this is your inability to think clearly. Negative mood swings put you in a position where you base your reactions and decisions on emotions and feelings. This is NOT a good thing.

It is important to recognize these moods when they do strike so that you can take the corrective actions necessary. By recapturing your lost positive attitude you can then once again make proper social choices and successful business decisions.

Let’s look at 5 straight forward approaches you can take to reverse any mood swings to make your day a productive and happy one.

Focus on Something You Enjoy

You need to break the spell that has created your negative emotions. The quickest way to do this is involve yourself in an activity that brings you happiness. Whether it’s a game, reading, or talking to a close friend you want to reverse the negative feelings building up in you.

The longer these feelings linger the more damage they’re capable of doing and the harder it will be to vanquish them if they’re allowed to take root.

Release Negative Feelings

This may not always be easy to do but letting go of those feelings that are dragging you down will generally give your outlook a positive boost.

The fact of the matter here is the more you may subconsciously dwell on the source of your negative mood the bigger it will become.

Learn to RELEASE these toxins from you.

A simple approach here would be to understand how much you stand to suffer or lose by allowing these feeling to remain with you. Resolve to not let them dictate the course of your day or your relationships with others who matter to you.

Exercise

I have been a huge advocate of this approach for many years. By exercising you gain two immediate benefits.

First your focus is now drawn to the exercise itself which will minimize the negative mood your previous thought process had instilled in you. By increasing the flow of oxygen to the brain, which exercising will do for you, you’re able to think more clearly.

Secondly the exercising will make you feel much better physically and in fact on a medical level will improve your health.

You absolutely can not beat benefits like this.

Identify the Source of Your Foul Mood

Reflect on what it is that has dampened your spirits and made you moody. Likely you will conclude either the source is NOT worth the angst it has created within. You may also come to realized that perhaps your ability to overcome the source of your foul mood is being inhibited by your foul mood itself.

To think clearly and be able to solve problems your mind can not be occupied with negativity or emotions. This will only sap your energy and distract you from focusing on the important matters.

Be Nice

Ever do something when after you think about it you regret you did it in the first place? Realizing it was wrong or unnecessary probably made you feel bad didn’t it? Well think the opposite here and consciously make it a point to do something nice for somebody without any intentions of being reciprocated. Words of encouragement, a compliment, unsolicited assistance, or even doing volunteer work all can make you feel more ‘human’ and help to ‘reattach’ you to others in a positive way.

This always helps to quickly dampen negative feelings you may be carrying around.

Being able to recognize a bad mood early on enables you to address the negative emotions that threaten your day. Taking proactive steps such as those mentioned above allows you to restore a flow of positive thoughts thereby correcting any self-destructive mindset. Mood swings are a natural part of our emotional cycle and can be altered by you under normal circumstances. It is important to take corrective action when you identify your judgment is being influenced by negative emotions and feelings. Through regaining a healthy positive attitude you are more easily able to interact on a social level. In addition the ability to make successful business decisions also increases now that you’re thinking more clearly as opposed to reacting emotionally. It is your responsibility to take the active measures that could be the difference between a good day or a forgettable one!
